If you’re looking for the latest news and information on all things Call of Duty, then the annual Call of Duty NEXT stream is for you. And this year was no different, with tons of new details on the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, changes to Warzone, Call of Duty Mobile, and more. We’ve rounded up some of the highlights below, but if you want an even deeper dive into all the new features, check out the official Call of Duty blog, which details everything from Omnimovement to Zombies, Mastery Camos, Multiplayer, and more!
Multiplayer Information
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Multiplayer will launch with an incredible collection of 16 all-new maps that will showcase some of the new features, such as Omnimovement (more on that in a moment), delivering fast-paced action. As with previous Call of Duty games, expect meticulously designed maps that showcase what combat looks like in the Black Ops 6 era, featuring stunning landscapes, close-quarters encounters, and plenty of cover opportunities to deliver an unparalleled multiplayer experience.
The new Multiplayer maps are divided into two main categories: 12 all-new maps for the 6v6 Core mode and four compact Strike maps designed to be played in either 6v6 Faceoff or 2v2 configurations. Those who get access to the upcoming Closed Beta will have the chance to explore the Babylon, Derelict, Rewind, Scud, Skyline, Gala, Pit, and Stakeout maps.
But what good are maps without a variety of game modes to enjoy them? And it’s not just about adding classic modes like Team Deathmatch, Gunfight, Domination, or Hardpoint. We’re told Treyarch has spent significant time looking at all of the core modes and tweaking them to suit Black Ops 6’s unique playstyle.
This will also include a new game mode that you’ll be able to try out when the Beta begins on August 30: Kill Order. The goal behind Kill Order is to protect your team’s High Value Target (HVT) while attempting to eliminate the enemy’s HVT. This mode features two teams of six players, where teams score points for all kills, but eliminating an HVT will earn you a higher number of points. It looks chaotic; we can’t wait!
Other changes that have been implemented include an adjustment to the Time to Kill (TTK), which has been slightly sped up compared to the previous Black Ops game, various settings for the in-game HUD, a variety of audio improvements, and the return of slide canceling. You can get a full breakdown of all the Multiplayer features on the official Call of Duty blog , which also details features like Loadouts, Combat Specialties, and more.
Information about Global Gameplay Systems
Omnimovement, Gunsmith changes, Global Weapon Builds, Classic Prestige, and Mastery Camos will be some of the major innovations you can expect in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone modes, but perhaps none will be as revolutionary as Omnimovement.
Here’s how it works: Omnimovement will let you chain together combat maneuvers like sliding, dashing, and diving, all with a full 360-degree range (the upcoming Closed Beta will be a great opportunity to try this out in action). Basically, you’ll have all the tools you need to become a true action hero, like shooting while diving forward, sideways, or backward. Or performing combat dives off the edge of a building, spinning in midair to face an enemy, and opening fire—there are plenty of awesome ways to engage opponents.
